What motivated you to pursue financial planning & wealth management?
Math has always been my natural strength. I initially pursued engineering in college but found it too conceptual. Transitioning to finance, I was drawn to its direct connection between numbers and people. I found a natural passion for solving numerical problems that have a tangible impact on people’s lives.
What drew you to Ridgegate™ Financial rather than other firms?
I joined Ridgegate™ Financial when its only advisor was our founder, Wally Smith, eager to enter the industry and seize my first opportunity. After interviewing with various wealth management firms, I noticed a strong emphasis on sales that often came at the expense of quality financial planning. Wally’s commitment to prioritizing comprehensive planning and investment strategies was a refreshing contrast. His client-first philosophy remains a cornerstone of our culture at Ridgegate™ Financial today.

What about your work do you find most exciting?
Seeing the long-term impact of a well-executed financial plan is incredibly rewarding. Even the most successful individuals often struggle to align their investments with their unique circumstances and future goals, as personal emotions can easily cloud judgment. I enjoy helping clients bridge this gap they already know exists, providing clarity and strategy, and witnessing the results of our work together over time.
What is your most rewarding work experience so far?
My most rewarding experiences arise from situations where I can make a significant positive impact. A client came to me facing a difficult situation—his wife’s severe mental decline and the potential financial strain of her care. I helped him reposition assets, improve cash flow, and bring in legal counsel for healthcare and estate planning. Earning his trust during such a challenging time is a responsibility that I consider to be a great honor.
Which personal accomplishments make you most proud?
I am nothing without God’s grace, and I am grateful for the gifts He has given me. In my career, passing the CFP® exam after many hours of hard work was a significant accomplishment. That being said, my greatest joy in life comes from my wife and our family—though it is an accomplishment I cannot claim as my own.
What people or ideas influence you most in life?
My dad has been a strong role model, teaching me the importance of making prudent decisions and staying steadfast in life’s duties. I also have a deep appreciation for the scholastic tradition of the Catholic Church. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas has particularly influenced my life.
